The June 2009 Club Competition was a wet but enjoyable one...
June 2009

24 of Glyncornel Angling Association members recently braved horrendous weather to take part in the 3rd of six fly fishing competitions of 2009 at Glyncornel Lake Tonypandy. The weather started off fine and warm, but soon turned to torrential rain that lasted all day resulting in many members finishing the day early to go home and dry out. Even though the weather was somewhat disappointing there was still an obvious feeling of competitiveness amongst the members who competed on the day. Unusually the fishing started off slow, but catches were consistent throughout the day.

Winner on the day was Adam Madge, with 2nd and 3rd positions going to Jeff Berryman and Clive Perry respectively. The biggest fish of the day award went to Kelvin Walters who landed himself a 07 lb 01 oz rainbow trout, and the tag fish award went to Mark Rowbotham for catching a carp.

2nd position Jeff Berryman with his 05 lb 04 oz Rainbow Trout.

4th position Kelvin Walters with his biggest fish of the day (07 lb 01 oz).

Congratulations also to 13 year old junior member Kyle Humphreys for catching his biggest ever rainbow trout of 05 lb 04 oz during the competition.

Members should be reminded that there is a prize for best photograph taken throughout the season.

Good luck also to our newest additions to the wild life around the lake. There are now two nesting Mallard ducks on the island with newly hatched ducklings. It's a pleasure to see them on the lake, and we look forward to seeing them develop through the coming weeks.

Next competition, Saturday July 4th.

Tight lines!

Ian.
