Glyncornel Lake and the River Rhondda off to a flying start.

Fishing has been exceptionally good following the start of the 2008 season at Glyncornel Lake.
March 2009

Although the new season has only been open  for a few weeks, the fishing at Glyncornel Lake and the River Rhondda has been exceptionally good. Reports have been coming in of over-wintered fish being caught to 2½ Lb on the Tonypandy / Dinas stretches of the River Rhondda, and also to 4 Lb at the lake.

Pictured below is Ian Jones (Vice Chairman) who on his first outing at the lake this season caught two rainbows each 3½ Lb using small sub-surface lures.

Fish also rising to dry flies late afternoon. Best tactics for dry fly fishing at the moment are to use no more than a 2 Lb leader and dry flies as small as possible. Grey dusters doing especially well.

Be sure to take your Polaroid's with you so you can pick out your target's.

Plenty of over-wintered fish visible from all banks around the lake, so get yourself down to the lake for some great fishing.

Tight Lines!

Ian.
(Vice Chairman).
