Club Members Enjoy Another Fantastic Club Competition.
April is here again, and that can only mean one thing... COMPETITION TIME!...
April 2008
19 of the club's members participated in the 1st of this seasons "Just Kitchens Classic" fly fishing competition at Glyncornel Lake. The weather was truly unpredictable, changing from warm sun to snow flurries , then back to warm sun again in the afternoon . A majority of the fish were caught in the first few hours and most of the 19 entrants caught their 4 fish limit, although some members found the going tough .
Considering that there was only 1 lb difference between 1st place and 10th place, the competition was very competitive.
Joint first place went to Steven Port and Craig Fry (12 lb 10 oz) (...and yes, it's not a typing error, Steven Port (Club Treasurer) actually caught 4 fish on the same day!!!). 3rd went to Stephen Moyle (12 lb 06 oz) and 4th to junior member James Parry (Og) (12 lb 01 oz).
Biggest fish of the day also went to Steven Port (4 lb 06 oz Rainbow Trout). No tag fish was caught on the day.
Please visit the "Competition Results" page for a full list of the first 10 places.
Photo's taken during the competition will be posted on the Gallery page soon.
Thanks also to our club sponsor Mike Owen of "Just Kitchens" for kindly supplying the members with merchandise during the competition. Mike is pictured below catching one of his fish.
Members are reminded that the Chairman will contact each of you approx. 1 week before the next competition.
See you all at the lake (or river) soon.
Tight lines!
Ian,
Vice Chairman. |
