About Glyncornel Angling Association

Glyncornel Angling Association, is home to one of the finest trout fisheries in the whole of South Wales.

Stocked regularly with both brown trout and rainbow trout, the lake has more to offer than your average catch and release small water.

The lake is open to fly fishing only, and is open from the 20th of March, to the 17th of October 2005.

Members are entitled to fish a maximum of three times a week, and have a bag limit of two fish per day (rainbow trout only).
Any brown trout caught is strictly on a catch and release basis.

The lake is regularly stocked with trout to 14 lb +.

Fishery record: 18lb 4oz rainbow trout.

Membership fees:

Only season permits available. Adult and junior prices are shown in the "Welcome to Glyncornel A.A." section of this page. These prices are for new members only (reductions apply for existing members).

Season permits for Glyncornel lake also include fishing at our exclusive 10 mile stretch of the River Rhondda, where brown trout are also stocked regularly.

Competitions:

Held on the first Saturday of each month. Members wishing to enter should contact the chairman at least five days before.

Glyncornel Lake is situated within Rhondda's only nature reserve.

Club members enjoy another great club competition at Glyncornel Lake.

May 2007

18 members enjoyed another outstanding day at Glyncornel Lake, with almost all of the 18 entries catching fish in excess of 4lb. Biggest fish (5lb 12oz) and tag fish went to Matthew Owen who was beaten into 2nd position by overall winner Stephen Moyle who had a total weight of 16lb 15oz.

The quality of the fish was second to none (as usual), with a majority of the fish being caught in the first few hours, but fish were being caught right the way through the day, although the hot sun did slow down the catch rate from around 10:30 to late afternoon.

Congratulations also to Stephen James and Ian Jones for coming 3rd and 4th respectively and who all had catches over 12 lbs.

Next club competition is on Saturday the 2nd of June. People wishing to enter the next competition are reminded to contact the Chairman on 432289 to secure a place in the competition at least seven days before.
